mpi-default-bin software package provides Standard MPI runtime programs (metapackage), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install mpi-default-bin
mpi-default-bin is installed in your system.
Make ensure the mpi-default-bin package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep mpi-default-bin *
You will get with mpi-default-bin package name, version, architecture and description in a table
